2013: It’s all bold colours

This year, bold make-up colours rule the world. And for those who want to experiment, tangerine orange, electric blue, bright green and all gorgeous colours that look stunning are the way to go. Granted, these colours ruled the world last year, yet this year, at least for the earliest part of it, these colours are not going anywhere. Therefore, if you want to steal the show and possibly stand out from the crowd, you’d go for any of these. Meanwhile, next week, we’ll be discussing how to identify your skin tones.
Tangerine orange lips
Tangerine is the new “it” colour in town. The vibrant reddish orange is both exotic and friendly. And the best part: the sunset hue is flattering on all skin tones. Bright orange-red lipstick will go fine on people with fair skin, while those with medium skin tones can opt for a more burnt orange colour. Those with darker skin tones should look for a blue-based orange.
Note, if you are just experimenting with bold colours, start with a lip gloss and then work your way up to a lipstick, as a matte lip needs some form expertise to achieve.

Orange eyeshadow
Orange-based hues on the lids have a way of making blue eyes pop (in the case of those who wear contacts). It accentuates brown eyes as well. But how do you achieve the eye popping look? Well, you could start with creamsicle shades of orange, if you have a fair skin. This colour will most definitely look great on you. For those with medium skin tones, choose a more coral hue, meaning more pink mixed in with the orange for medium skin tones. Those with darker skin tones will stand out wearing bright tangerine shade. But note that you need to start with a sheer application and add that bright pop of colour onto the lid or into the crease and finish with a sweep of bronzer on your face for a sun-kissed glow.

Hot fuchsia cheeks
A pop of fuchsia is perfect for everyone, that I can guarantee you. But it doesn’t mean you have a layer on it. A light application of the colour on the apples of your cheeks for a slight flush will be a great idea for people with medium skin tones. If the fuchsia is still too bright for your taste, apply a translucent powder on top to soften the edges of the colour. For darker skin tones, it will be good to opt for a darker fuchsia and do a heavy application of the colour. And for darker skin tones, do a matching fuchsia hue on the lips. Pair it with a neutral, taupey eye.

Coral-orange coloured cheeks
Coral orange can be worn by everyone, and it does have a way of quickly warming up your skin.
People with darker skin tones should wear a bright orange like Make Up For Ever Powder Blush in Tangerine, while those with medium skin tones will wow with pale sweep of a tangerine orange colour. For fair skin toned people, a see-through, coral orange that has more pink undertones, which will go great on their skin. Apply whisper of it on for the best outlook. Smile into the mirror and put a puff of the orange high on the apple of the cheek and you are good to go.
